Although one might not think of a film like The Conqueror could be the basis for a popular song, but the fact is, it was. Lee Hatsfeld, who has a wonderful blog called “Music You (Possibly) Won’t Hear Anyplace Else,” has the Decca 45 in his collection and reports that the song is “based on a theme from” the Conqueror, and the music is played just after the opening credits of the film. Also released on the Festival Records label (FS78-912) in July 1956 and the Brunswick label (45-05548), also in 1956, with all three 45’s featuring the same two songs. These records are fairly rare, although the Decca and the Brunswick label records do appear for sale online from time to time.
